UPCOMING EVENTS AT NEIGHBORHOOD MUSIC

Clayton Piano Festival February 10-17, 2012. Several students of the Academy are participating in the Master Class on February 11.

Federation Festival for singers and pianists on February 24. Fourteen students from the Academy will be playing or singing; four students are playing for scholarships!

Spring Recitals at The Clayton Center will be Friday evening, April 27, and Sunday afternoon, April 29.

Start thinking MUSIC CAMP for Summer 2012! There will be guitar, piano, voice, theater, and Music for Little Mozarts!

Seth Takes Top Honors at the State Level

A piano and guitar student of Neighborhood Academy, Seth Burleson, recently received the highest score at the state level and a superior at the regional level for his string quartet composition in the National Federation of Music Teachers Festival. Way to go, Seth!

Piano and Voice Students Excel at Federation Festival

Congratulations to thirteen students of Melora Arant and Dr. Christine Rogers who participated in Federation Festival and earned Superior and Excellent ratings in piano and voice auditions! The Festival is an annual event held at Johnston Community College by The Clayton Music Club in cooperation with The National Federation of Music Teachers. Students perform before one or more judges who give evaluations of the performances and compliments on the students' hard work. Greta Hanks, piano student of Dr. Rogers, is advancing to the state level in the scholarship competition. All students who rated superior, even the very young ones, are invited to play during the Honors Recital at JCC on February 26. Well done, students!

What's Happening!

The cold winter days and falling snow have not chilled the enthusiasm and excitement you can feel when you walk through the doors at Neighborhood Music! New classes are beginning in Kindermusik, art, and all instruments - voice, piano, drums, guitar - as well as strings, brasses, and woodwinds! Since January 1st, 40 additional students have registered, bringing the total registration to date (January 31, 2011) to 545 students for the 2010-2011 school year! Several high school juniors and seniors are preparing to compete for scholarships in piano, voice, and composition in the Federation Festival sponsored by The Clayton Music Club! Best wishes to each of you as you perform and are evaluated!

Fall Lessons Are Underway!

What a busy September it has been! Over 400 students have already registered for lessons of all types - from Early Childhood Music Classes to Art to Voice, Piano, Guitar and Drums!

Violin rentals to the Johnston County School elementary aged children have also been brisk. It is a delight that so many students will have an opportunity to be introduced to music notation and to playing this expressive instrument!

The Academy has added several new instructors, also. In addition to the classes listed above, the Academy offers Homeschool Classes, Music Therapy, Mandolin, and Strings.
