"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "Rapunzel"

Go to see “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” this upcoming weekend (August 1-3) if you possible can! What a super performance by all the players! Neighborhood Academy of Music is especially proud of the students and faculty members from the academy who are in the show: Ty Myatt (Joseph), DeeAndrea Hargett, Taylor Outlaw, Zach Scaggs, Andrew Mullins, and Charlie Putnam, cast members. Jessica Albright is Musical Assistant and Jonathan Eggleston is in the orchestra. Although the performances were last weekend, “Rapunzel” of the Christian Youth Theater also included students from Neighborhood Academy of Music. Kudos to these fine performers: Evelyn Hanks, Greta Hanks, and Patrick Spain.

Summer Camps Still Enrolling

Three music camps are history for this summer, but four more have yet to occur and are still enrolling. “Advancing Violin” for students with at least one school year of violin experience, 1:00 – 3:30, Monday – Thursday, July 22 -25. Students will play in a violin ensemble and further develop skills through theory games and music centers. There will be a mini recital held Thursday afternoon so your child can showcase what has been learned. A light snack will be provided daily. $160 plus the purchase of a book. ///// “Clayton Idol” for students ages 9 – 16, July 22 – 25, 1:00 – 3:30, Monday – Thursday with a recital Thursday afternoon. Light snack provided each day. $160 plus purchase of a book with practice CD. /////“Beginning Violin” Ages 7 – 11, Monday – Thursday, August 5 – 8, 1:00 – 3:30. Come discover the joy of learning to play the violin through hands-on experience, theory games, and music centers! Light snack provided daily. Mini recital held on the last day so your child can showcase what has been learned! $160 plus purchase of Book /////“Piano/Keyboard Camp” for the beginning piano student. Learn the names of treble and bass clef notes, basic rhythms, and play simple melodies. Grades 1 thru 5, August 12 – 15, 1:00 - 3:30. $175, includes two music books and a light snack each day. Peyton, one of the students of Neighborhood Academy of Music, sang the opening The Star-Spangled Banner for the Carolina Mudcats game last week. Peyton is a voice student of Betty Barden. Way to go, Peyton!

Homeschool Band and Vocal Ensemble to Resume after Labor Day

Homeschool Band: Wednesdays 1:00 - 1:45 Beginner Band. Join the band to learn to play the flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trombone, trumpet, or French horn. The band will meet weekly and the tuition is $15 per week, plus the cost of a method book (approximately $8.00). ///// Homeschool General Music: 1st + 3rd Wednesdays, 2:00 - 2:45. Ages 5 - 9. $15 per week. ///// Homeschool Vocal Ensemble: 2nd + 4th Wednesdays, 2:00 - 2:45.
