Mentoring...Scholarships...Miss Clayton High School

So far this has been an exciting year for Neighborhood Music! Several instructors have mentored students in their senior projects for graduation. The projects have included composition and performance of a drum solo and work within a music therapy session. Dozens of students performed with piano and voice at Federation Festival at Johnston Community College, earning Excellents and Superiors. So proud of them! In April, one of the students will be performing at the state level for scholarship in the piano solo division, playing "Allegro in G" (C.P.E. Bach) and "Land of Many Waters" (Costley). Go, Kelsey! Miss Clayton High School is DeeDee Hargett, voice student of one of the academy instructors. DeeDee sang "Ouvre ton cour" and is very deserving of the title and the scholarship. Yay, DeeDee!

GUITAR INSTRUCTORS...

Two new guitar instructors have come on board at Neighborhood. One is a graduate of the School of the Arts and completed three years at Oberlin Conservatory; he has extensive recording and performance experience. The second guitarist studied at East Carolina University and is also a composer - his latest stint has been composing for a production company out of Los Angeles putting together music for A&E's "Duck Dynasty."
